When we got up this morning we thought we were going to have a quiet day at home. Did we forget that we are at the RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous)? Unless you lock your door and refuse to answer, that just isn't going to happen. By 0830 we had a text from our neighbor. She was making bacon, eggs and pancakes. "Come and get it." It was a good time and good food. They were having a hearty breakfast before breaking camp and heading north where they will spend a short time before heading to their summer job as campground hosts in northern Michigan.
We had just returned home when we got another text. A friend whom we first met last year boondocking near Havasu City, AZ wanted to stop by and visit. Sure, come on over. We had a great time catching up with her. She wanted to hear all about the new grandbabies and see pictures. Her's are in Oklahoma City. What a great time.
She was still visiting when I see another friend walking toward us. He had helped us when we were on the steep learning curve of the newbee. Brent MacAloney is friendly, interesting and an all-around good guy. I'll use his name because he's a blogger and you might want to follow him. He does a lot of technical writing about full-timing, van and small vehicle dwelling. We think he's a great guy. His blog is at www.macaloney.blogspot.com. We spent some quality time catching up.
We loved having the two of them visit. It was great fun but Pamela needed to lay down for a while. She hadn't been in bed a half an hour when one of our neighbors came by. They had a friend arrive and were having hors d'oeuvres. We needed to come, and so we did. The friend traveled with a band and was returning to LA when he decided to check on "the girls" in the desert. He was very interesting and we had a really good time, but it was getting cold, dark and time to eat.
Returning home we had our good friend, who was the reason we camped here in the first place, over for left-over soup. He had bragged on my soup so much I might as well make him help finish it off.
What a marvelous day! I don't think we heard the "T-word" more than twice today, we avoided it on Facebook, and just reveled in the joys of friendship and nomadic living. We spent the day in the sunny big-sky of the west, being close to wonderful people, talking about grandbabies, solar systems, running, hiking, new places and old and new friends. We wish so much that everyone could enjoy this marvelous life-style with its peace and happiness.
